How Nova Silva scaled codex catalog through Azure marketplace

Nova Silva is a technology company focused on delivering advanced data solutions that enable organizations to structure, manage, and unlock the value of their data. With Codex Catalog, Nova Silva provides a platform that helps enterprises gain control over complex data landscapes while ensuring compliance, governance, and accessibility.

As demand for the platform grew, Nova Silva needed a way to scale delivery without compromising on security or customer control.

The challenge

Nova Silva faced growing limitations in scaling and modernizing the delivery of Codex Catalog. The deployment process relied heavily on manual steps such as snapshots, zip files, and custom scripts. This approach slowed down onboarding, introduced risk of errors, and made it difficult to scale the solution across multiple customers.

At the same time, Nova Silva aimed to make Codex Catalog available through the Azure Marketplace. This introduced strict enterprise requirements around security and compliance. Customers required full data ownership, controlled network access, and zero standing access from vendors. These conditions made the existing deployment and update model unsuitable.

Although Nova Silva already had the ability to update deployments, the transition to the Azure Marketplace Managed Application framework required a new, reliable update mechanism. Without this, continuous delivery and adoption of new features would remain a bottleneck.

The solution

CloudNation designed a scalable and secure architecture built on Microsoft Azure, enabling Nova Silva to transform how Codex Catalog is delivered and maintained.

Codex Catalog was packaged and published as a Managed Application in the Azure Marketplace. This allows customers to deploy the solution directly into their own Azure environment, while Nova Silva retains controlled capabilities to manage updates centrally.

A modular infrastructure framework was developed using Bicep. This framework automates the provisioning of all required Azure resources, including networking, security configurations, and compliance controls. The setup ensures that each deployment meets enterprise-grade standards from the start.

To support installation and lifecycle management, CloudNation developed a custom Installer application. This component is deployed as part of the Managed Application and is responsible for provisioning infrastructure and installing Codex Catalog. It also enables Nova Silva to roll out updates across all customer environments in a controlled and secure way.

Within the Managed Application model, customers cannot modify the deployed infrastructure. This guarantees consistency, stability, and compliance across all installations.

The results

Nova Silva now delivers Codex Catalog through a fully automated and scalable model via the Azure Marketplace. This eliminates manual deployment processes and opens a new channel for enterprise customers.

Each deployment meets strict security requirements. Customers retain full ownership of their data, environments are protected through controlled networking, and vendor access is eliminated by design.

The custom Installer application enables seamless updates across all deployments. New features and improvements can be rolled out efficiently without manual intervention, improving both maintainability and customer experience.

With automated deployment and update capabilities in place, Nova Silva significantly reduces onboarding time. This accelerates time to market and strengthens their position.
